You may have noticed that last night the playlist was no longer available in the menu. We’ve updated Attrition and Hardpoints modes non-Campaign with improved matchmaking, so you’ll be playing it automatically. Searching for teammates and opponents will now sometimes take more time to look for players that are a good skill level match, rather than purely prioritizing speed over quality. This will give us more time to build better teams and create closer games that are worth staying in for a longer period of time. Rather than playing against the same opponents over and over, the game will periodically split the teams apart and search for new opponents for each team. This means if one team is dominating, we will update the skill for all of the players and then find each team a better suited match for the next round. Did you lose to a really great team? We’ll make them disappear and replace them with a new opposing team — and they will have no idea that you just got your butts kicked.

Oh Hell Yeah, Titanfall’s Matchmaking Is Getting Fixed

MM is the worst thing to have happened to mp gaming. I get home and I have friends I play with. I hope on, invite them, a minute and 30 seconds later we are all in a game, on the same team and the teams are evenly matched in terms of skill and group layout. In games like CS, where it’s highly competitive, getting scrims and stuff was usually just one sided garbage.

My impression so far has been that Titanfall 2 has a much greater skill ceiling and therefore a much steeper learning curve compared to Titanfall 1. Which makes pacing and balance feel completely different from the first game.

Is this the legacy of using gamespy or other similar things and getting screwed? I see the same problems in so many games with matchmaking and it is infuriating like server browsers. Each developer has to reinvent the wheel to learn the same basic lessons that their fanbase has already watched play out in several games before. I mean, matchmaking grouping players based on skill is presumably a solved problemn. What’s tricky is determining what constitutes ‘skill’ in a given game. The updates that Destiny released last December to the matchmaking that made all of it skill based brought so many issues with it and unfortunately Bungie refuses to make it go away even though the community hates it.

Not ideal, especially since your worst players are also typically your newest players, the ones you really want out spreading the word about your awesome game. Matchmaking needs to be based on connection first so that way you aren’t getting matched against people in different areas of the world just because they are your same skill level.

That’s not a good experience. Reality is there are tolerances for various factors that the match-maker will weigh when creating a match. Skill level, connection quality, time in queue should all be factors and which is considered “first” will largely depend on the other players currently in the pool or roughly expected to enter the pool. Weighting those things for your playerbase is a significant part of the challenge.

For me though connection needs to be a higher priority than skill.

Board Is it just me, or is this game suddenly “unfair”? Real quick, I just want to clarify, I love this game, no. It’s fantastic, the Campaign Shocker there , the multiplayer, all of it.

A good skill based matchmaking system requires a big playerbase, bigger than Titanfall 2 ever got. Significantly bigger than it is at this point. Only a few of the most successful games at any given time are really able to maintain good skill based matchmaking.

Most players say that this installment was just overhyped. But who can blame the reviews? You have the chance to control giant robots and make them fight against other giant robots. You can also do some epic wall running, knee sliding and gun fights. However, the first game needs some room for improvement, particularly with the single player campaigns and challenging level grinding systems.

Thankfully, the developers from Respawn addressed all these issues in Titanfall 2. This new game follows a lot of the tropes and mechanics found in traditional FPS titles. The elements are mostly familiar, but the way they execute the fights and level designs are extraordinary. When you enter its virtual world, forget everything you know about firing angles, covers, terrain navigation and tactics that you picked up from years of video game experience.

Nerfed and boosted some heroes to get a more equal playing field and added two new maps and a new game type. I have logged about 20 hours in the beta and have had a blast.
